7 Inspirational Christian Movies That Will Renew Your Faith

christian movies faith

Christian movies are really amazing when it comes to giving you life lessons. There are many people who claim to have been converted to a particular religion because they watched a movie that touched them on a spiritual level.

It’s hard to watch a Christian movie – fiction or not,- that won’t move you in one way or the other or renew your faith, and it doesn’t necessarily have to be about characters from the bible.

Below, you will find seven inspirational Christian movies that will renew your faith and give you a new sense of being to live and do right in life.

  • Miracles From Heaven

Miracles from Heaven is a true story of a young girl who had an incurable disease. She couldn’t digest food because her brain wasn’t sending signals to her stomach and intestines to move as they should, so she had to be fed liquid through her nose and went through one surgery after the other that kept on taking more of her intestines. That is, until God intervened and heard her family’s cries in the strangest of ways. The story will test your faith, but will definitely renew it also.

  • Mount Zion Films

If you’re Nigerian/African and haven’t watched any movie by Mount Zion Films, then you need to go confess in the nearest church. Mike and Gloria Bamiloye’s movies all have life lessons about living in Christ and the benefits of being a child of the Most High God.

I admit that some of the movies tend to scare you because of the grotesque portrayal of evil (like regular Old Nollywood movies), but the message passed across will no doubt make up for all that.

  • The Passion of The Christ

The Passion of The Christ is probably on every list out there, and for good reason. It shows the dramatic events of Jesus’ last moments before his death on the cross and by God, it is the most emotional, painful and spiritually-moving thing you might ever watch in this life. The movie shows you all what Jesus went through to redeem us from our sins, and why you should always look to him and be kind to one another.

Fun Fact: Jim Caviezel, who played Jesus in The Passion of the Christ, was struck by lightning while filming the scene about the sermon on the mount.

  • It’s a Wonderful Life

It is a timeless story about George Bailey and the meaning of a wonderful life. Life is thought to be a gift from God. He knows our real purpose in life and has good plans for each of us. One should not underestimate daily actions and his own life, even when feels like completely disappointed or when his dream seems to ruin. You have made many people happy but did not pay attention to it. The story draws attention to the real calling of people in life and faith in the power of God.

  • God’s Not Dead: A Light in Darkness

The drama of 2018 was the third instalment of the same title by director Michael Mason. It is the story of David Hill, who tries to save a church within a campus with his friend Jude. Jude died in a fire, intentionally lit by one of the students of the college, who was trying to destroy the church. After the vain attempts to defend the church, Dave decided to close the lawsuit against the college and the killer of his friend. He realised that this place could not be used as a location for righteous worships and opened the church in the close vicinity of the campus area.

  • I Can Only Imagine

It is a story, which is based on the best Christian single of all times by the MercyMe rock band. This American Christian drama movie was directed by the Erwin Brothers and shot in Oklahoma City. The story is about a young boy Bart Millard, who is just 10 years old and lives with his mother and father. Life makes this family experience hard times, and the only way out for this boy is music. He creates a band and writes a song, which turns into a success. This Christian film brings faith and hope as well as depicts the power of true forgiveness.

  • War Room

With great jobs, a beautiful daughter (Alena Pitts) and a dream house, the Jordans seem to have it all. Appearances can be deceiving, however, as husband Tony (T.C. Stallings) flirts with temptation and wife Elizabeth (Priscilla Shirer) becomes increasingly bitter, crumbling under the strain of a failing marriage. Their lives take an unexpected turn for the better when Elizabeth meets her newest client, Miss Clara (Karen Abercrombie), who encourages the couple to find happiness through prayer.
