Women who happen to be rape survivors never remain the same as they are psychologically forced to change their state of consciousness and reflective potentiality. The world suddenly becomes dark and empty to them and they’d feel the need to be physically defensive at any slight motion.  And sometimes, justice or vengeance just isn’t enough to fill the holes in their disorganized nervous system. Below are movies about rape and sexual assault:

FIFTY

Tola is a successful television figure who is still secretly trapped in the cabinets of her past. Tola was raped by her dad when she was just a girl and her whole life has just been a big blur. She doesn’t let her husband touch her and she’s always disturbed with the presence of her son (a product of the incident), Jamal, whom she claims to be her younger brother.

Also, her own mother believes her being raped is completely her fault. This movie tries to correct the notion made by ignorant individuals who believe a girl or woman is raped because of her clothing. 

PINK

Minal and her friends file an FIR against a politician’s nephew after being molested. This movie is so realistic and it is solely based on consent. Plus, this movie shows how women are easily perceived as wasted on the basis of their lifestyle. Pink is an eye-opener for so many.

ALTER EGO

Ada is a really good lawyer who fights specifically to keep rapists and other sex offenders in jail but Ada is also a rape survivor still struggling with the trauma from the incident and using meaningless sex as a temporary remedy to keep her from exploding.

Professionally, she knew what she was doing but psychologically, she couldn’t exactly tell right from wrong.

I SPIT ON YOUR GRAVE

This film aims to repulse and not entertain as it throws more light on the horror of rape. A young woman is raped and left for dead by three men.

She somehow survives but her craving for vengeance is at its peak as she goes after them one after the other to inflict pain ten times harder than they did to her.

IRON ROSE

Altagracia Sandoval is a victim of rape by a group of rich young men called, “The Porkys”.  She grows up to become a hateful woman with a thirst for vengeance.

One of the underrated effects of rape is that your emotions become totally numb and you just become cold-hearted just like Altagracia.
