Chiwetel Ejiofor May Voice ‘Scar’ In ‘The Lion King’ Live-Action Movie

Disney has been dishing out a lot of live-action depictions of their beloved animated classics with the likes of Beauty and The Beast, Alice In Wonderland, and The Jungle Book already released and many others in production. However, among the many announced releases, there is none that’s more anticipated than The Lion King.

The Lion King, which is set to use the same CGI director Jon Favreau used in The Jungle Book, has so far cast Donald Glover as Simba, James Earl Jones as Mufasa, and John Oliver as Zazu. Now according to The Wrap, Chiwetel Ejiofor is currently in talks to voice Scar in The Lion King remake.

Scar, who is the main villain, was previously voiced by Jeremy Irons in the 1994 animated movie. RnB singer Beyonce was also eyed to play Nala, but it hasn’t been confirmed yet if she accepted the role.

Chiwetel Ejiofor’s movie credits have been amazing so far with Love Actually, Serenity, American Gangster, Salt, and 2012, 12 Years a Slave, and most recently The Martian and Doctor Strange

The cast would be perfect and we are already jumping at the idea of hearing Chiwetel Ejiofor sing the classic “Be Prepared” song.

Jon Favreau is set to direct The Lion King which will hit theatres on July 19, 2019.
