Marvel dropped the teaser for Black Panther weeks ago, and as you would expect, it broke the net. People – myself included, already plan to don traditional attires to the cinemas when going to watch the highly anticipated movie. While we wait for the actual trailer to drop, let’s dissect the teaser and see 5 things we’ve learnt that will make this movie one of the most successful Black movies & Superhero movies of all time.
There Will Be More Than One Villain
Though the main villain is Killmonger, played by Michael B. Jordan, there are other villains like Andy Serkis’ Ulysses Klaw. Klaw will reprise his role from Avengers: Age of Ultron, and as you’ve seen he has only one hand, thanks to Ultron “mistakenly” cutting off his other arm. No spoilers but, Klaw will attach a badass weapon to the lost arm.
The Movie Will Show Diverse African Cultures
For some reason, people are already bashing the movie for having people with discs in their mouth, people doing juju, and also people wearing hides and carrying spears. Well, surprise, but that IS showing the diverse cultures in Africa. There are many cultures who portray all the “strange things” shown in the movie. Yes, in reality, those cultures do exist.
There May Not Be Any Other Avenger/Superhero In The Movie.
Save for Spiderman: Homecoming, which will see Iron Man making an appearance, all the debut movies for superheroes in the MCU only has the main protagonist – as the title of the movie suggests. Debut movies do not have other Superheroes in the MCU making an appearance, and Black Panther will be following this trend.
Killmonger Is An Equal To Black Panther
In the trailer, there is a brief moment shown when N’Jadaka and T’Challa are fighting at the Warrior Falls (The same place T’Challa will have his coronation). N’Jadaka (Killmonger) is strong, fast, agile, mentally strong, and also a very skilled warrior. If the scene goes the way it went in the comics, then he defeated T’Challa.
Black Panther’s Suit
In case you don’t know this, Wakanda is the most technologically advanced country in the MCU. Even Iron Man and all his tech are pale in comparison to what Wakandan scientists and engineers have achieved. So it only makes sense for Black Panther’s suit to be just as badass as Tony Stark’s Iron Man suits. The purple blast we see before Black Panther flips off a destroyed car comes from his suit. His Vibranium suit makes him able to fire powerful energy blasts, scale buildings, take even armor-piercing gunfire, and do so many other amazing things which we are most likely to see in the movie.
There is still a whole lot we do not know about the movie. So we will have to wait for the next trailer and the actual movie to get the full experience of this already highly anticipated movie.
Black Panther will hit theatres on February 16th, 2018.
