Watch The Exclusive and Hilarious Trailer For Baby Driver

What was the most eagerly anticipated film being screened at this year’s SXSW Festival? Well, the car winning that particular race was undoubtedly the crime-thriller Baby Driver, which premiered Saturday night (March 11) at the Austin fest. Written and directed by Edgar Wright (Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz), the film stars Ansel Elgort as a getaway driver determined to leave the criminal life behind after meeting the girl of his dreams, played by Lily James.

Given this is the much-admired Wright’s first film since 2013’s The World’s End and that its cast also features Jon Bernthal, Eiza González, Jon Hamm, Jamie Foxx, and Kevin Spacey, Baby Driver is mouth-watering stuff. But the film also boasts an intriguing twist: Elgort’s titular character suffers from tinnitus and the movie’s action is choreographed to the music he plays to drown out the ringing in his ears.
“I always wanted to do an action movie that was powered by music,” Wright told EW last year. “It’s something that’s very much a part of my previous films and I thought of this idea of how to take that a stage further by having a character who listens to music the entire time. So, you have this young getaway driver who has to soundtrack his entire existence, particularly the bank robberies and fast getaways that come afterwards.”

Baby Driver will be released on August 11
