MCU: Who Has The Soul Stone?

Since the Marvel Cinematic Universe kickstarted in 2008, the movies shown had one big purpose – to set up the MCU’s fight against the infinity gauntlet-wielding titan Thanos.

So far, five of the six stones have been found; The Tesseract (space stone) from Captain America: The First Avenger, The Aether (reality stone) in Thor: The Dark World, Loki’s Sceptre (the mind stone) in Avengers, The Orb (power stone) in Guardians of the Galaxy, and The Eye of Agamotto (time stone) in Doctor Strange.

However, there is still one more important stone that’s yet to make it’s own debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe – The Soul Stone.

According to the comics, the soul stone was given to Adam Warlock. Adam is a warrior who used the powers of the stone to fight and ward off evil from the galaxy. In the scene where The Guardians of the Galaxy went to meet The Collector, Adam’s cocoon was seen in one of the glass cases. In the comics, Adam enters his cocoon to replenish his strength. And when the power stone destroyed everywhere, Adam’s cocoon was opened. So maybe he will have the soul stone when Thanos eventually comes to earth for it.

Another theory is that, Heimdell of Asgard has the stone and uses its powers to be see the billions of souls in the nine realms. This theory was why he couldn’t see Jane Foster because the reality bending powers of the Aether blocked his vision from being able to detect her. Also, more speculations suggests that Hela will take the stone from him during Ragnarok, which will render the guardian of the bifrost gate, blind. Plus, the soul stone is orange-gold in colour, which is the same as the glow in Heimdell’s eyes.

The third person who is believed to possess the stone is Hela. In the MCU, Hela is death herself and it’s only fitting that one such as herself will be in possession of the stone. After all, to be able to destroy Mjolnir like we saw in the trailer, there haD to have been some serious cosmic power at play.

For this reason, there is a lot of speculation that the soul stone can also be in Mjolnir (Thor’s Hammer). Which is why people think Hela destroyed it, so as to get her hands on the stone.
