Game of Thrones is arguably one of the most watched and interesting TV series ever. Boasting the largest cast members in TV history and a whopping cost of at least $10m to produce each episode, coupled with the entrancing and thrilling storyline, the dragons & blood, twists and cons. It’s no wonder why President Barack Obama is a huge fan of the series and was always the first (when he was in the white house) to watch the new season of Game of Thrones by getting a copy months before the release date.
Through the twists and turns, author and writer of the hugely successful TV series (and books) George R.R. Martin, has been given a funny nickname of “Cinema’s most notorious serial killer” because of the unrivalled death toll from Winterfell in the North to the White Walker territory down South… and we still have more episodes coming. However, if you are just planning to start watching Game of Thrones or you’re already doing so, I strongly suggest you adhere strictly to these three guidelines to save yourself some stress, tears, and high BP.
Don’t Skip The Opening Theme Song – The opening theme song of Game of Thrones is by far one of the best in TV right now (and probably in history). the melody is unlike any before because it has the effect of riling you up to prep for the events of the particular episode you are about to watch. Also, while the theme song plays, the mini map shows all the kingdoms and places that will be featured in that episode.
Do Not Have A Favourite Character – I remember when I started watching Game of Thrones, I so loved Ned Stark – portrayed by Sean Bean. When he died, I was so shocked and confused because I thought he was the main character. And my confusion didn’t end there because 6 seasons in and I am more confused than ever! I don’t want to spoil it for you, but I strongly advise you not to have a favourite character. Save Yourself!! :'(
Remember “Valar Morghulis” – That is the motto of the house of Bravos and coded motto of Game of Thrones. It simply means “All men must die” or to put it in more relatable terms, “Eyan le ku any f*cking time.” Be sure to remember this when you watch Game of Thrones because fam it is true. One minute you are gingered and rooting for a character that’s been tagged the “leader of the strongest army” who is travelling & determined to conquer the world, the next minute you are confused because he died…. of an infection.
