#FathersDay: 6 Most Awful Dads to Ever Appear on Screen
It’s another time to celebrate the fathers and father-figures in our lives for being awesome role models for the past year. It’s also a time to celebrate them for not being like any of the six fictional dads below who have appeared in movies and done unspeakable acts that can send their children to early graves.
Chief Ernest Obiagu
While his dialogue with his daughter remains one of the best father-daughter moments in Nollywood history, there’s no denying that Chief Obiagu is just an awful dad. Why? Well simply because he put his company in debt amounting to almost a billion, and made his daughter find a way to pay back the sum in a less than a month. Imagine that?
Darth Vader has been one of the greatest influences in pop culture ever since his debut on the big screen. And by the force itself, he’s the perfect description of a deadbeat dad. He waited years before entering the lives of his children, Luke Skywalker and Leia Organa, only to do nothing else but attempt to kill them at every turn…living up to his overlord title.
Chief Daddy
Say what you will about Chief Daddy, but has there ever been a more notorious womanizer to ever grace the screen? Chief Daddy created the most dysfunctional family ever; fathering children with different women across the nation like it was his God-given mission to do so, having a daughter that was happy making everyone think he was her sugar daddy, and making his eldest son, who no other family member knew, fix the mess he created.
DumbleDore
Dumbledore might not have fathered a child, but he was like a father-figure, mentor, and model to Harry Potter and his friends. But what did he do? He watched from his office, or wherever he was, as Harry repeatedly put himself in harm’s way trying to save everyone. The number of times Harry, Ron, and Hermonie could have died was definitely way more than the number of Horcruxes Voldermort had. To make matters worse, Dumbledore has always been that way, currently making Newt go after serious threats in Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.
Jon Kent is definitely one of the greatest father figures to ever appear in fiction and in many ways, he is worthy to be a role model to real-life dads everywhere. But why is he on this list? The Man of Steel version made a single statement after a teenage Clark Kent pulled his school bus out from under the river. Jon tells Clark to keep his powers a secret and Clark asks him if he should have let a bus full of kids die. Jon responded with “Maybe.” Now imagine if that was BrightBurn?
Thanos
It would be very unfair not to mention the Deadbeat Supreme Leader himself, Thanos. Two daughters were nothing but a means to an end for him. What kind of father replaces his daughter with cybernetics, piece by piece, for losing sparring sessions? What kind of father kills his daughter to get the power to wipe out half of the universe? The Mad Titan, that’s who.
