Late last year the
released date for
How To Train Your Dragon 3 was pushed back, meaning fans of the series would have to wait an additional ten months for the third chapter. Now, in an interview with the
JoBlo Movie Show Podcast, actor Jay Baruchel, who provides the voice of the trilogy’s hero named Hiccup, offered an update on the films progress and praised the third chapter’s story.
Jay Baruchel revealed that he has already provided some voice work for the film and discussed the enthusiasm fans have expressed for the series.
“I’ve already done a number of recording sessions for that one. Once every 2-4 months I will work for 2 hours and then that happens over the course of 3 years and then before I know it I’m at Cannes with a movie that people are like, ‘You don’t understand! This movie is the most important thing in the world to me!’ I felt like I fell ass-backwards into STAR WARS! It’s really cool. We’re well on the way to doing it. They take a lot of time to make so I don’t know when it’s coming, exactly.”
Jay Baruchel did provide details on the film’s story, but did share his belief that it will be the strongest of the trilogy.
“I’m not allowed to say anything. This is what I’ll say, and for whatever it’s worth I do swear that this is not just promo nonsense. It’s by far, the strongest of the stories (of the 3). It’s the movie that the series requires and deserves and it’s the rightful third chapter or third act, I should say. I don’t think anybody will be disappointed.”
Directed by Dean DeBlois, the film stars Jay Baruchel, Gerard Butler, Craig Ferguson, America Ferrera, Jonah Hill, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, T. J. Miller, Kristen Wiig, Cate Blanchett and Djimon Hounsou.
How To Train Your Dragon 3 is scheduled to be released in theatres on March 1, 2019.
