Netflix Acquires Kunle Afolayan’s Mokalik and Other Movies

Netflix has acquired Kunle Afolayan‘s latest movie, Mokalik.

The ace director made this known in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria on Wednesday.

“I wish to inform you that Netflix has acquired “Mokalik” and some other of my films,” he said.

Kunle Afolayan did not disclose the value paid for the acquisition, but added that Netflix has not announced when the films would be released on the platform.

The acquisition represents Netflix’s ongoing aggressive interest in Africa content after acquiring Genevieve Nnaji’s movie Lionheart.

PLOT: ‘Mokalik’ follows the career of an 11-year-old boy, Ponmile, from the middle-class suburbs who spends the day as a lowly apprentice at a mechanic workshop in order to view life from the other side of the tracks. When his father arrives to take him home; Ponmile has to make up his mind if he wants to return to school or take on his apprenticeship full time.
