The Hulk: What He Saw When Scarlet Witch Warped His Mind in Avengers: Age of Ultron

As fans are eagerly anticipating Hulk and the Planet hulk storyline when Thor: Ragnarok is released on November 3rd, there has been so many unanswered questions and an air of mystery about the green beast from his last appearance in the MCU up to his landing and fighting in the Grandmaster’s gladiatorial games like we will see later this year.

All the trailers released so far have been instrumental in helping us piece the missing informations together, however, there is still one unanswered question we haven’t gotten any info about yet, to know whether it will be answered in the third Thor movie or not;
“What did the Incredible Hulk see when Scarlet Witch warped his mind in Avengers: Age of Ultron?”

The scene was so amazing because The Hulk has been shown to not be susceptible to mind control or things that can possibly mess with his mind. Only cosmic power-levelled beings have succeeded in warping The Hulk’s mind in such a manner (and even at that, it was still hard to achieve). And considering the fact that Scarlet Witch got her powers from the mind stone in the MCU, it actually makes sense for her to be powerful enough to pull off putting the raging monster in the same mind-warping state that the Mighty Thor momentarily held at bay.
Also, while the other Avengers seemed to be in a dream-like state after Scarlet Witch used her magic on them, The Hulk was the only one who was angry, and seemed even angrier than ever before in all his appearances in the MCU.
So the answer to the question of “what he saw” is a very important one and a possible defining moment to what made Hulk become the sentient being he will be moving forward. Well, after a lot of browsing through possible storylines from the comics, one particular story held what we think may be the answer to that question.
In Marvel’s Original Sin, a 4-part mini-series published in 2014, The Watcher who sees everything that happens in the universe was killed and his eyes were taken from him. The killer then used the information within to show The Hulk what really happened during his gamma ray accident, and surprise, surprise, Tony Stark was the one who caused the explosion which turned Bruce Banner into the raging monster.

Naturally, Tony wasn’t really behind it, but he wore his Hulkbuster suit anyways and went to battle – and calm down – the now raging monster who had directed all his anger at the ‘genius, billionaire, playboy, philantropist’ for making him become the angry beast he is. The battle lasted a while with Hulk bursting open Stark’s Hulkbuster and tearing it to pieces (I’m sure this already brings back memories from their battle in Avengers: Age of Ultron).

The only difference was, The Hulk won the fight in Original Sin, as opposed to Iron Man succeeding in calming the beast down in Avengers: Age of Ultron.

This is all speculation though, so take it with a pinch of salt while hoping that the real answer gets revealed in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Thor: Ragnarok, or when Thanos possibly uses the mind and reality stone on Hulk when he battles the whole MCU in Avengers: Infinity War.
Till then, catch the Hulk and Thor battle, team up, and save Asgard on November 3 when Thor: Ragnarok lights up cinemas nationwide.
