Trophies were handed out at 89th Academy Awards on Sunday night at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood. “Moonlight” star Mahershala Ali made history as the first Muslim actor to win an Oscar, and Viola Davis finally took home a trophy on her third career nomination. And the surprise winner of the big prize was Barry Jenkins’ “Moonlight.”
“La La Land,” tied for the most nominations of all time, took home six out of 14 Oscars.
