Hellboy Reboot To Feature B.P.R.D

A new Hellboy reboot is in the works and details have finally begun to emerge about the anticipated movie.
Formally titled Hellboy: Rise of the Blood Queen, the film is now simply known as Hellboy. David Harbour is set to play the red heavy lifting half-demon. Ian McShane is on board as Hellboy’s adoptive father Professor Broom, and it sounds like more familiar faces will be present in the reboot as well. The Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense — or the B.P.R.D — will also be featured in the reboot.

The B.P.R.D. figures into the movie. I don’t want to say who is and who isn’t in the movie. I think it’s fair to say, however, that the primary focus is Hellboy and not a B.P.R.D. team movie.

Mike Mignola, the creator of the Hellboy comic book series and many of the characters within it, is involved in the creative process for the Hellboy reboot. In addition to the movie being closer to its source material, Mignola revealed that the B.P.R.D. will figure into the film, though, he understandably did not give away any of the specific characters that will involve. Fans of Guillermo del Toro’s Hellboy movies will remember the B.P.R.D. playing a big role, providing support for Hellboy in the field.
The amphibian, Abe Sapien and the pyrokinetic Elizabeth Sherman were both in the original movies, and seem likely to return once again.
The reboot will be rated-R and will be a darker horror story than the lighter tone of the previous films, with Milla Jovovich cast as the villainous Blood Queen.
Hellboy is expected to release sometime in 2018
