Is Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness worth watching?
Firstly, let me start by telling you to throw the plot you know or think you know out the window. It is more like a continuation of an existing MCU movie/TV Show in Doctor Strange’s standalone story. And by all the books of Vishanti, it worked so, so well.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness nearly throws everything you’ve come to love about MCU movies out the window. Replacing them with things you never knew you needed to see happen in MCU movies.
Sam Raimi came in big with his signature horror style direction with scenes that will get your heart beating fast and the hair on the back of your neck standing up.
In this movie, there was no fear of being different. No fear of being dark, gory, and adding a little horror to the light, comical, and fun tone the MCU has almost always dished out.
The musical score nearly stole the show and the use of music in different scenes were just as beautiful as they were ear-pleasing.
Performance-wise, Elizabeth Olsen stole the show. She really felt like a different character from the one we had come to know and love, and her execution of her characters would actually make you love her even more.
Newcomer America Chavez’s relationship with Doctor Strange was in a way reminiscent of Spider-Man and Iron Man’s relationship and it brought a little bit of warmth to the movie.
I’d admit that there were times I was left wondering why characters were acting unnaturally just because Sam Raimi wanted to bring out as much horror as possible from the different scenes. But it didn’t take too much out of the movie.
Overall, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is a fun and dark ride through the Marvel multiverse, packed with enough easter eggs and cameos to light up the geek in you, while also leaving you anticipating the future stories the movie sets up.
Is Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness worth watching? Yes, it is. I’ll rate it a B.
P.S: There are two post-credit scenes and if you can watch the movie in Imax or 4DX, please by all means do. It’s one heck of an experience.
P.P.S: If you get lost watching the movie, it’s totally fine. You’ll just have to watch it again and preferably watch Wanda.Vision, What If…, and Doctor Strange before watching Multiverse of Madness.
