Brad Pitt Is No Longer An Option To Play Cable In Deadpool 2

The very last scene in the post-credits of the highly successful R-rated movie, Deadpool, saw Ryan Reynold a.k.a Deadpool tease an amazing time-travelling mutant who was going to star in the sequel – Deadpool 2.

Since that moment, many speculations, rumours, and fan arts went around the internet about who will be best suited to play Cable, and which actor Fox was looking at to play the time-traveling mutant.

Among the many names, one of the most prominent and reoccurring was Brad Pitt, who was seriously in contention for the role. But even though the thought of him playing a superhero/mutant was enough to give Deadpool 2 the added hype and extra success (not that the movie needs it), new information coming to light has said that Brad Pitt – although was confirmed to be in the running to play Cable – would not play the famous time-travelling mutant.

Director David Leitch told Comicbook that while Pitt was in the running previously, they could not work out a deal. Fox and the creative team involved have now moved on from the idea of Pitt and are looking to cast someone else in the role. Read Leitch’s full quote below:

“We had a great meeting with Brad, he was incredibly interested in the property. Things didn’t work out schedule-wise. He’s a fan, and we love him, and I think he would’ve made an amazing Cable.”

Thanks to his impressive resume, Pitt could’ve been a big time addition to the. That said, no matter how great of a Cable he could have been, there is not likely a scenario where Cable does not get even more screen time if Pitt — or someone of his stature — lands the role. Not only that, but Pitt is so recognizable that he could even detract attention from Deadpool, or even make it difficult for some to see him as Cable.

Other contenders for the role (according to speculations) are Michael Shannon and David Harbour. But regardless, with Deadpool 2 already close to production, it wouldn’t be long before a Cable is announced.
