7 Most Anticipated TV Series In 2019

If 2018 could be summarized in a sentence, then it’s safe to say that it definitely offered a lot of good TV series to distract us from the many problems happening in the world and country. Series like Skinny Girl in Transit, Jenifa, Daredevil, Luke Cage, Legion, The Flash, How To Get Away With Murder, The Big Bang Theory, NCIS, WestWorld, Black Mirror and more, all helped make 2018 a great year for TV. Now that the year is over, it’s time to look to the future to know what 2019 holds for TV lover.

Below are six most-anticipated TV shows of 2019:

Game of Thrones

By far the number 1 on almost every list, HBO’s Game of Thrones, which will return for it’s eight and final season, has kept the world engrossed in a fantasy world like no other for years. Boasting the highest-paid cast, the series with the most cast members, and the most money spent on a TV show, there is no doubt in our minds that the final season will make for the best season ever. And hopefully, Cersei Lannister will finally get what is coming to her when the season premieres on April 14. Pfft!

Narcos: Mexico Season 2

Who else cried when Kiki’s body was found? Well, I did, and the fact that it was a true life story made it even more emotional for me. Netflix’s Narcos: Mexico season 2 will continue from where it stopped. Felix Gallardo will continue to build his empire, while the new DEA Agents who got into Mexico at the end of the season will have to use unconventional means to try and take the drug lord down. The release date hasn’t been officially announced yet, but we will update you as soon as it is.

The Men’s Club Season 2

Nigerians were shocked last year with Red TV’s The Men’s Club. Boasting a stellar cast, the YouTube series tapped into the “Men are scum” trend in a fantastic way. And the cliffhanger at the end of the first season not only sets up events for an awesome second season but is sure to get even more viewers anticipating it just as well.

Big Brother Naija Season 4

It takes a really great show to hold Nigerians (whose attention span is shorter than weevil’s height) spellbound for 90 consecutive days. And there really is only one reality TV show that can do that; Big Brother Naija. After cheering Miracle to victory in 2018, Big Brother will air its fourth season this year and audition dates and venues have already been announced, which you can see here.

Power Season 6

If we are talking about the best cliffhanger in a 2018 TV show, then Starz’ Power definitely takes the award. Tommy putting one in Angela, in the presence of Ghost, left my mouth open for a good five minutes, and I have been itching to know what happens next. Although Season 6 hasn’t been officially announced yet, judging by the show running annually, it is expected to air this year, and we may finally get to see the Ghost vs Tommy fight we never knew we wanted to see until we see it.

Ajoche

Even though Ajoche isn’t really a seasonal show per se, with the official tag having season 1 with over 190 episodes, everyone still rushes to their TV’s every night to watch Africa Magic Showcase’s prime show. If you want more of revenge, war, duty, honour, love, lust and destiny being the order of the day, as the people of Ocholuje learn to survive after uncovering some bitter truths once buried in the past, then you should definitely catch up on Ajoche.

Watchmen

After Zack Snyder’s masterpiece of a movie, fans had been clamoring for a sequel to The Watchmen, and now thanks to HBO, DC’s otherworld superhero team will hit televisions worldwide in 2019. From the little  teaser released, we have seen a new Rorschach and an older Adrian Veidt. Although there is little else known about the overall plot, there is no doubt that everyone is really looking forward to seeing what DC and HBO will cook up with their latest TV series.
