Building up on 2017’s great blockbusters, hits and misses, and everything else in between, let’s take a look at the some upcoming movies for the year 2018. A year in which we get to see a first black superhero star in his own stand-alone movie, the MCU build to its climax, Deadpool coming back to break the fourth wall again, the super-powered family gives birth to a super-powered baby, more horror, romance, and indie movies. Here’s your guide to the most anticipated movie of in 2018.

After nothing short of an awesome debut, our favourite marmalade addict is back, and with him the lovable characters of one of the decade’s most charming kids’ movies. Based on the stories by Michael Bond, Paddington waddled into movie stardom with a family-friendly adventure and plenty of British witticisms. Director Paul King returns to continue the franchise he launched so successfully, joined by the talents of Sally Hawkins, Hugh Bonneville, Julie Walters, Imelda Staunton, and Ben Whishaw as the voice of the mischievous bear.

After surviving the darkness in the sequel, our favourite sex-loving couple are back and married. However, their happily ever is threatened by a disgruntled ex who is stalking the duo. Maybe this time, we’ll get to see an amazing climax (see what I did there?).

The folks behind Wallace and Gromit have a new stop-motion feature that takes place in the dark days prior to the invention of Wensleydale cheese. It’s the Bronze Age, which is bad news for a lovable caveman voiced by Eddie Redmayne. You know the kind of cozy humor you’re getting from Aardman Animations, but hey — why reinvent the wheel?

Arguably the most-anticipated movie of the year, King T’Challa’s Black Panther – of African descent – will face his toughest foe yet (Michael B. Jordan’s Killmonger)  in his first stand-alone movie, in a bid to save the kingdom of Wakanda before enlisting the help of the Avengers in Infinity War. Directed by Creed/Fruitvale Station filmmaker Ryan Coogler, the film stars Chadwick Boseman (42, Marshall, Captain America: Civil War) as T’Challa.
