10 Exciting Bollywood Movies to Look Forward to in 2020

This list is for our Bollywood lovers and cinephiles who want to start watching Indian movies this year. There’s a lot of good work to see and look forward to in 2020. Here’s our top 10 looking forward to watching.

Chhapaak

Deepika Padukone plays the role of an acid survivor in this film based on the true story of acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal. Malti (Deepika Padukone) was attacked with acid on a street in New Delhi, in 2005. Through her story, the film makes an attempt to understand the on-ground consequences of surviving an acid attack in India, the medico-legal-social state of affairs that transpires after the acid has been hurled and the face is irreparably burnt. The movie was released on January 9.

Panga

Kangana Ranaut plays the role of a forgotten Kabaddi champion who’s on a mission to shatter stereotypes as she embraces a life of domesticity. Rooted in the subculture of societal facts #Panga is an emotional roller coaster tale of a middle-class Indian woman; A forgotten kabaddi world champion who catalyzes an inner desire to give a new meaning to her existing role as a wife and mother and takes an ingenious decision to come back to the sport despite the challenges of age stereotypes and a new generation complexities which creates an upheaval in her life as she is torn between family responsibility and love for the sport. Released on January 23, this is an exciting watch.

Jawani Jaaneman

Tabu and Saif Ali Khan join hands for this romantic comedy about a man (Saif Ali Khan) who realises that he’s a father to a teenager. The movie premieres at the cinemas on January 30th.

Shikara

This is a story of resilience in the face of many odds. It’s also the story of a love that remains through three decades of exile. What is it to know the agony of being a refugee in your own country? The year 1990 saw the biggest forced migration in independent India whereby more than 4,00,000 Kashmiri Pandits had to flee from the Kashmir Valley. Almost 3 decades later, most have been unable to return. Shikara is the story of resilience in the face of insurmountable odds. It’s also the story of a love that remains unextinguished through 30 years of exile.

We already know Bollywood is the best in telling love stories, aren’t they? Release date: February 6th

Love Aaj Kal 2

This remake of the 2009 film by Imtiaz Ali comes to our screens on February 14, 2020. Also directed by Ali, the lead roles of the remake are Sara Ali Khan, daughter of Saif Ali Khan from the first film and Kartik Aaryan. This movie brings back memories and we can’t wait to see it! What better way to have a Bollytine’s day?

Shubh Mangal Zyaada Saavdhan

Ayushmann Khurrana takes the lead in this homosexuality expository movie. Every love story deserves a happy ending. But the road to achieving this happy ending is a little too rough for Kartik and Aman. While Aman’s family tries hard to battle his love for Kartik, Kartik isn’t prepared to step back until he marries Aman! Find out what this ultimate feud leads to, in Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan! Release date: February 19.

’83

Starring husband and wife duo, Ranvir Singh and Deepika Padukone, we see the pair in a husband and wife role in the on-screen retelling of India’s historic win of the 1983 Cricket World Cup. Singh plays veteran cricketer Kapil Dev, while Padukone plays his wife. We can’t wait for April 10!

Gulabo Sitabo

 

Set in Lucknow, this movie stars Amitabh Bachchan and Ayushmann Khurrana as two locals. We never get disappointed with Big B. We await April 16.

Roohi Afza

This is a horror-comedy about the spirit of a man who abducts brides on their honeymoons. It is as comedic as it is horror. April 16 is the date!

Shamshera

July 30 will see us watch Ranbir Kapoor play the titular role in this period action-adventure.
